Emotional Labor

Reached home almost 8 o’clock at night.

Today’s work agenda is fully utilised, with lots of travelling. Was at a kick-off meeting at a government agency in the morning, then after lunch went straight off to the HQ of one of the biggest hypermarket in town. Meet a lot of new people at both sites. As usual, I was pretty quite most of the time observing and absorbing information. It seems obvious to me that there’s a lot of public relations involved with copious amount time spend building the relationships. Something that I’m not really good at, because I am not really a socially extrovert person. But this is part of the job, so better be ready to do it anyway.

By the way the term is Emotional Labor : The effort, planning and control needed to express organizational desired emotions during interpersonal transactions.
